FOOTBALL has provided Hampton & Richmond Borough striker Niko Muir a welcome release after a testing year off the pitch.
The 27-year-old has been in fine form for the Beavers with six goals in all competitions which helped them into the FA Cup first round and the early mix for promotion.
Muir, a popular figure among supporters, has had to cope with the sad passing of his mum in April, and then his nephew three months later.
But Hampton and Richmond boss Gary McCann have played a big part in helping him get back on his feet.
“He’s a good manager and away from football he’s more like a friend,” Muir told The NLP having first played under McCann at Hendon, who took him from Sunday League side Phoenix FC aged 18. “People say, ‘that’s your dad!’ and stuff like that, but he looks out for people and has time for everyone.
