Dangerous Donald Trump has been mocked after saying he is taking an unproven drug to keep him free of coronavirus.
In the latest example of his mishandling of the health crisis, the US president told bemused reporters he is using hydroxychloroquine – even though public health officials warn it may be unsafe.
US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said he shouldn’t be taking it because he was “morbidly obese”.
However, studies have warned it could lead to sudden death.
Trump, whose chaotic handling of the pandemic has been blasted by predecessor Barack Obama, made the bizarre admission at the White House.
Speaking to the press on Monday, he said he had started taking the malaria and lupus medication: “I’m taking it for about a week-and-a-half now and I’m still here, I’m still here.”
