14 years for what killer did to mum is nothing. Life should mean life..

DAUGHTER’S FURY AT JUSTICE SYSTEM Sex predator caged after evading law for 36 years

A FURIOUS daughter has hit out after a judge ruled her mum’s sex killer could be freed after just 14 years.

Evil Graham McGill, 59, got life yesterday for strangling Mary McLaughlin, 58, in 1984 – but could be released earlier.

A GRIEVING daughter has slammed the justice system because the sex killer who murdered her mum and escaped justice for three decades could be freed after just 14 years.

Brute Graham McGill, 59, was 22 when he strangled mother-of 11 Mary McLaughlin, 58, to death in her Glasgow flat.

The predator was sentenced at the High Court in Aberdeen yesterday to life imprisonment.

But the “punishment” part of the sentence was set by a judge at just 14 years – after which he will be eligible for parole.

Mary’s daughter, Gina McGavin, has relentlessly pursued justice for her mum and last night said the 14-year punishment does not reflect his heinous crime.

Speaking exclusively to the Record, Gina, 67, said: “He probably thought he was home and dry – but the fact is he has been held accountable and has not got away with it.
