The star was stripped of his visa by the immigration minister, Alex Hawke, earlier today, sparking a fresh legal battle over the world number one’s bid to compete in the Australian Open.
Revealing the reasons for the decision, Djokovic’s lawyer Nick Wood said the minister had decided to assume or accept that the tennis player has a medical reason for not being vaccinated, that he complied with the law when flying to Australia, and he “poses a negligible risk to others” due to natural immunity from recently having Covid.
