The AGM statement by Barratt Developments sent its shares up by 5% and helped rivals Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon to improve by around 3%.
Analysts at Liberum described the update as “surprisingly good” with Barratt reporting growth in its forward sales position and average selling price in the period up to the weekend.
