The UAE has announced that COVID-19 tests will be mandatory for all inbound and transit passengers, including Emiratis, residents, and tourists, arriving via the country’s airports, irrespective of the countries they are coming from.
The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced the time period for the negative COVID-19 test result for all arrivals through the country’s airports, which must not exceed 96 hours from the date of the examination, instead of 72 hours as previously announced.
According to the joint statement, all passengers travelling through the country’s airports to the EU countries and the UK, as well as other countries that require PCR tests, have to get tested prior to boarding their respective planes.
The low number of cases shows success in breaking the frequency of the spread of the virus, which has been achieved through the commitment of all society.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention announced on Thursday that it conducted over 54,000 additional COVID-19 tests which revealed 254 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of cases in the UAE to 57,988.
