Johnny Sexton regrets his decision not to play for Leinster in their Champions Cup semi-final loss to La Rochelle.
The Blues skipper revealed that, having been stood down after suffering a concussion against Exeter in the previous round, the opportunity was there for him to face Ronan O’Gara’s side in May.
Sexton, after meeting with a consultant, decided to hold off from playing so that he would be fully fit for a potential European final and then Lions tour in South Africa.
As it panned out, neither happened for the Dubliner as La Rochelle progressed to the decider (right) and Warren Gatland (above) snubbed him for selection.
