Finally, basketball is back. Because there is no tournament, we can play later into February and hopefully get more chances for the players to enjoy playing together.
The girls basketball team beat Searsport 70-33. They weren’t able to handle our press very well and we took a quick 19-2 lead after the first quarter. We didn’t press after that, but we controlled the game and built the lead. Everyone that was suited up played plenty of minutes and we had balanced scoring.
Early in the second period, Myles brown finally got his 1,000th point. It was a quiet ceremony, if you could call it that. The game was stopped. Myles’s family, below left, was allowed to be there for the game until he scored the 1,000th point. They took pictures of them congratulating him. He went to the bench, above, and was congratulated by his teammates and coaches. after the game was over there was a big crowd outside in the freezing cold that was yelling and congratulating him like they would have if they were at a normal game.
