Pune Firm To Start Making Vaccine

Eyes Oct launch in partnership with Oxford University.

Vaccine-maker Serum Institute of India (SII) on Sunday said it will start producing a COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University over the next two to three weeks with a plan of bringing it to the market by October if human clinical trials succeed.

“Our team has been working closely with Dr Hill from Oxford University, and we are expecting to initiate production of the vaccine in 2-3 weeks and produce five million doses per month for the first six months, following which, we hope to scale up production to 10 million doses per month,” said SII’s CEO Adar Poonawalla.
