In December, planning permis, sion for six high-speed internet masts was refused after hundreds of people in Salford objected.
However, due to national legislation, the company, IX Wireless, is able to build the masts without the need to submit a planning application. A spokesperson for the council says while it fully understands residents' anger, national law 'is not on the side of residents! Nicoletta Lane objected to a mast measuring just shy of 50ft outside her home on Woodsmoor Road in Swinton, but she says that on Tues, day IX Wireless surveyed the area where it is set to be installed.
