MONITORING TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS — Manila Traffic & Parking Bureau (MTPB) Chief of Operations Wilson Chan supervises the staff monitoring the contactless traffic apprehension operation at the Manila City Hall yesterday. A no-contact apprehension program (NCAP) started in the major thoroughfares of Manila on December 7 with some 36 very efficient cameras installed on selected roads to spot erring motorists and capture photos of their license plates. Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso said the NCAP will encourage motorists to ‘drive safely or risk being caught by the city’s digital traffic eye and pay a huge fine.’ (Jansen Romero)
In a Malacañang press briefing on Tuesday, NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba said that Globe, Smart, and Converge have actually improved their services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the public could expect more improvements once DITO enters the playing field in March next year.
