Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said inflation would accelerate if the Congress were to implement its policy proposals.
“The Congress has made preparations to snatch the entitlements of the tribals, the poor and the backwards,” he said at a meeting in Sonepur, Odisha. “It also wants to implement a programme that will lead to a rise in inflation, cooking expenses, and [the prices of ] cooking gas and other fuels,” he said. “If the Congress succeeds in its bid, cheap rice and wheat will become expensive... Congress leaders say the middle class is selfish, for which the tax on it needs to be hiked. Will the country prosper by breaking the backbone of the middle class?” he asked.
