The Archdiocese of Manila yesterday denied that the Catholic Church is defying the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF)’s an order prohibiting mass gatherings, saying it was only affirming the right to religious worship by letting parishes decide if they would allow 10-percent capacity during worship.
Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo, the administrator of the Archdiocese of Manila, issued the statement over Church-run Radio Veritas to clarify the pastoral instruction. The IATF is meeting today to discuss if 10 percent capacity can be allowed in churches during the two-week “bubble.”
Facing “The Chiefs” Tuesday night on OneNews, Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) public affairs committee executive secretary Fr. Jerome Secillano also said there is no defiance of the IATF.
