New Delhi: Hailing the Rs 69,000-crore budget for 2021-22, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said that despite the tough times brought about by the pandemic, the 6.2% increase was commendable.
In the past year, the government’s sources of income diminished, while expenditure increased manifold. “This left many wondering whether the budget would be increased or decreased. The budget covers all aspects of society, from women to the elderly, students, youth, all religions and all castes,” said Kejriwal.
In a press conference, Kejriwal said that “deshbhakti” was the defining feature. “The government has pitched the budget on deshbhakti and plans to organise 75 weeks of programmes to celebrate the 75 years of Independence,” he added.
