New Delhi: It has been a series of unfortunate events for 19-year-old Sana Cheryl Felix. She lost her father to cancer in April 2020 and her mother to Covid in May last year and is now apprehensive about losing the toes on her left foot. The Jesus and Mary College second-year sociology (honors) student was waiting in front of Durgabai Deshmukh metro station last Wednesday around 3.15 pm when a road roller hit a jersey barrier that fell on her leg.
The 150kg road barrier trapped her limb and it took around 20 people to move it. The road roller deployed at the under-construction Benito Juarez Marg underpass was trying to make a U-turn in the cramped space. “The front of the machine hit the jersey barrier which rotated and crashed into my foot. The driver left the road roller on the road and fled,” recalled Sana.
