Gangubai Kathiawadi is a film that gave us creative satisfaction: Jayantilal Gada

The film, headlined by Alia Bhatt, directed and co-produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has been appreciated by the audience as well as the critics. At a time when most producers and studios had moved their projects to OTT platforms for the lack of certainty in the theatrical business, we asked Dr. Gada why he opted to hold back Gangubai Kathiawadi for a theatrical release. He says, “Khushi ki baat hai ki picture acchi chal gayi. Bhansaliji and I had faith in our project. We had confidence that never dwindled, despite the uncontrollable situations in our lives and our work. Bhansaliji wanted to make this film for a decade. My thought process is that things work when it’s a win-win situation for everyone. For the last 35 years, my company and I have worked on so many films in different capacities. When Bhansaliji told me the film’s one-line thought, it reminded me of Kahaani, which was made by Sujoy Ghosh. It was one of our first independent films as producers.”
