New Delhi: You may soon be refused a refill at fuel pumps if your vehicle doesn’t have the Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. Delhi government has decided to make the PUC certificate mandatory to get petrol, diesel, or CNG at filling stations.
In a statement, Delhi government said that it had finalized a draft policy making it mandatory for vehicle owners to carry the pollution certificate and it would be placed for public opinion before being notified.
A joint study carried out in 2018 by The Energy and Resources Institute and Automotive Research Association of India mentioned that the contribution of transport to Delhi’s PM2.5 was 28% and 24% for PM10 during winter.
