Bengaluru: This story of two girls from Karnataka fleeing war-torn Ukraine is the stuff great escapes are made of. They travelled over 1,300 km in a private car with three other friends for two days with little food and sleep, all the while watching bombs and bullets wreak havoc around them.
Rachana Shree from Bengaluru and Suneha Thippeswamy from Chitradurga, f students at Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, Zaporizhzhia, had booked tickets to India for February 23 and were at the airport when they were asked to leave following an announcement about the airspace closure. The students left for their medico friend’s place in Kyiv.
