Mumbai: Swab samples loaded in the PCR machine found that a 70-year-old Andheri man and his 69-year-old wife who had travelled to Dubai were positive for the coronavirus.
Since then, the lab’s team has not only conducted around 1,000 Covid tests every day but also worked 24x7 to check quality of testing in over 50 private laboratories, validated new kits and produced 30 research papers capturing SARS2’s progress through Mumbai. “We were the first in India to write on Covid reinfection among doctors and healthcare workers and about the breakthrough infection among those vaccinated,” said Dr Jayanthi Shastri, who heads the Kasturba lab.
