How Institutes Are Helping Grieving Students

The second wave of the coronavirus has left many children without parent/s or guardian. Many schools, colleges and universities have come forward to extend their helping hands to such children by providing them financial assistance.

IIT Kanpur has raised more than Rs 1 crore to help the students. “A portal was launched in May to raise money for distressed students needing financial assistance. The money was contributed by IIT Kanpur alumni. A makeup end semester has also been introduced for students who could not appear in end semester exams due to their of their immediate family member’s Covid illness. Several other measures to reduce the stress of students on academics were approved by the management like waiver of credits for graduating students and no-fail grade and no termination, says Abhay Karandikar, director, IIT Kanpur.
