A day after right-wing groups demanded a ban on loudspeakers at mosques on the grounds that they cause disturbance to people in the neighborhood, Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Tuesday that the government will implement court orders on the issue after taking everyone into confidence and "not by force".
The CM said the government will implement "in stages" Supreme Court and high court orders on regulating the use of loudspeakers by shrines and other institutions. “Also, there is a court order that questions why earlier orders on loudspeakers are not being implemented. The decibel limit is prescribed and there is also an order to purchase decibel meters," he added.
