Months On, DJB Quick Fix Fails To Clean Malviya Nagar's Dirty Water

Scores of residents in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar area are distraught because of the supply of dirty water in the past few months.

They claimed that despite several complaints to Delhi Jal Board and other authorities, there has been no respite.

"Since last November, I have made several complaints to DJB and to lieutenant governor Anil Baijal about the problem," said Sanjiv Rai, B Block resident in Malviya Nagar. "The officials come to inspect and carry out a temporary fix that lasts just a few days before the water again becomes dirty and smelly. Filtration is now a recurring cost because the filter candle has to be changed frequently. But while the water becomes clearer, the odor does not disappear."

According to the residents, some sewage pipeline work had been carried out in the area earlier which presumably caused drinking water to mix with the sewage line content.
