Marcia Diamond, head of the private, Waldorf Independent school, echoed the sentiments of the 14 graduates during commencement ceremonies, held on the lawn in front of Emlen Hall. In her address to students, their families and friends, Diamond noted that the outdoor event marked a step toward normalcy—no masks or social distancing required.
“I will say what an incredible year this has been,” Diamond said. “I’m not sure any of us could have dreamed they would be sitting here tonight, together, without masks. The faculty and staff at The Bay School never really like to be recognized, but, at the same time, what happened this year...would not have happened without their incredible dedication.”
