Daystate Wolverine R Hi-Lite TALON SPOTTING PART 1

I’ve often pitied the back-room admin staff at Daystate, for their challenging task of keeping up with the company’s product development, and fast-changing specifications. A marketing department on steroids and a development team that refuses to take a holiday must be bewildering for all concerned, but as pioneers of the modern pre-charged pneumatic, this most energised of manufacturers has earned the right to keep pushing the boundaries. Their investment in ground-breaking, electronically managed airguns, has introduced a level of complexity unique in the industry, yet an appreciation of the diversity of their customer base has seen them also keep one eye on traditional mechanical design. Digitally regulated power, and electronic triggers are incredibly clever, yet all this wizardry simply isn’t for everyone, and the company understood this simple fact from the start.

NATURAL EVOLUTION

Evolution is about the survival of the fittest, and where Daystate are concerned, that means adopting a popular business model of upgrading and evolving key models, and quietly dropping others that are deemed less successful. The Wolverine is a classic example of Daystate’s amassed technical knowledge to date, in regard to a purely mechanical PCP action, and the Wolverine R, on test here, is the latest version, with the ‘R’ denoting a regulated action. This sleek-looking piece of high-end machinery gets revised woodwork; incorporating an adjustable pad, a side lever cocking system, the usual Daystate 10-shot magazine and single-shot loading tray, fully shrouded Lothar Walther barrel with threaded tip, a two-stage fully adjustable match trigger, and a sizeable carbon-fibre buddy bottle.
