When I first heard that The Shooting Party (TSP) had extended the Qiang Yuan Sports Goods (QYS) range of Olympic-medal-winning pellets with a foray into pointers, I simply had to get my hands on some to check them out. If you recall my earlier testing on the Domed and Streamlined Heavies that they produce, you’ll know that I obtained such good results with the Heavies that I actually changed brands and now use them almost exclusively in my BSA R10. I was really keen to see if the pointed version bore any similar qualities in regard to accuracy and consistency.
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
QYS was established in 1994 when they developed their own technology and processes to produce some of the most accurate pellets ever manufactured. They produced outstanding medal tallies in every Olympic Games since Sydney in 2000 – a staggering total of 10 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze, as well as scores of medals in World Cup events for both rifles and pistols (Official ISSF Data).
... AND A PELLET WAS BORN
As a general rule, pointed pellets are often looked on as the poor relation of the pellet world with many shooters doubting their accuracy compared to domed pellets. Indeed, when I did my pellet testing marathons earlier in the year, I found the pointed pellets I had on test to be far less accurate than the domed ones in my BSA R10.
