Manufacturers in any market, need to be seen to be delivering what the customer wants, and leading the field if they can. Trends, perpetuated and driven these days by social media, keep manufacturers on their toes, and one of the recent buzz words in the scope world, in case it’s slipped your notice, is ‘compact’. A steady trickle of models that satisfy the criteria, are now challenging the status quo, and on show here is one of the very latest from Hawke – the Airmax 30 SF Compact 3-12x40 IR. Two other models are in this range; the Airmax 30 SF Compact 4-16x44 IR, and Airmax 30 SF Compact 6-24x50 IR, so fans of larger magnification are well catered for.
With my obsesssion for hunter field target, being able to set a magnification of between 8x and 10x is the name of the game, so the 3-12x40 is in effect, an ideal spec’.
TRIM MODEL
The British Shooting Show, always an early highlight of the year, had Hawke showing off these models in pre-production last time round, and the level of interest generated on their stand was testament to the popularity of something which won’t easily unbalance a rifle combination. It is neat and compact, yet can demonstrate that performance is in no way compromised.
