LEJOG record rider: ‘I was falling asleep on the bike'

Christina MacKenzie suffered hallucinations from extreme tiredness and sleep deprivation as she came close to beating the Lands End to John O’Groats women’s record last week.

The Stirling BC rider completed the route in 55 hours, 19 minutes, making her the third-fastest woman to do the distance. But she was just over two and half hours off the record of 52 hours 45 minutes, set by Lynne Taylor in 2002.
