Tour contenders building towards their best form as Grand Départ draws ever closer
In a normal year, results and performances at the Critérium du Dauphiné and the Tour de Suisse would offer clear indications of the form of the favourites for the Tour de France title. Yet, due to this season’s extra week between these traditional Tour curtain raisers and the main event in order to avoid a major clash with the football World Cup, picking out the favourites for the yellow jersey is unusually difficult with so many of the contenders still building towards their best form.
