Scott Robertson knows that hard work, both physically and mentally, is required to become a Celtic player

M!ND GAMES

SCOTT Robertson is gradually getting to grips with the challenges of being a regular member of the Celtic first-team squad, and the promising young midfielder is beginning to understand the relentless winning mentality that drives the champions.

At 19-years-old, Robertson has spent the majority of his life as a Celt and knows only too well what is expected of any player when they pull on the green and white jersey. He has carried that expectation throughout his years in the Academy and into the first-team squad where he now finds himself.

Robertson made his first-team debut last season in Europe when he was named in the starting XI to face CFR Cluj in the Europa League group stages, and the then 18-year-old put on an impressive performance against the Romanian champions in the centre of midfield.

The teenager has been training regularly with the first-team now and joined Neil Lennon’s team for pre-season this summer where he played 30 minutes against Nice and started against UEFA Champions League semi-finalists Lyon.

Robertson has taken a lot from the last couple of months with the team, admitting that he can see the results of the hard work and experience now that the season is underway.

“This was my first pre-season with the first-team and I was expecting to notice a difference in my fitness at the end of it,” said Robertson in an exclusive interview with the Celtic View. “There’s been a lot of hard training and I’m feeling fitter and stronger than I ever have. I feel the best I’ve felt coming through a pre-season.
