THE A TEAM

Mohamed Elyounoussi dedicates his goals to a special person and aims to showcase his new celebration as much as possible this season

THE A TEAM

MAYBE it’s Henrik Larsson with his tongue out. Chris Sutton’s over-exaggerated right hook. Jimmy Johnstone punching the air. Or Scott Brown, legs apart, arms aloft. Let’s all do The Broony.

Perhaps you’re partial to Big Sammy’s Legolas-like bow and arrow, Efe Ambrose’s acrobatics, Odsonne Edouard’s ‘LV’, or Olivier Ntcham’s gravity-defining flips. Leigh Griffiths leaning on an Ibrox corner flag, Gary Hooper’s aeroplane, Chris Jullien’s Superman – and who could forget Mikael Lustig’s police hat, beach ball and piano-playing antics?

No matter which is your favourite over the years, goal celebrations in green and white are a joy to behold, and with each new season comes scope for new forms of jubilation. With two strikes during his Man of the Match outing against KR Reykjavik in last week’s first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, Mohamed Elyounoussi produced an ‘A’ hand-action on two occasions, the same pose you may have already spotted on the club’s official social media accounts.

The question is: what or who is ‘A’, and what is the significance of the midfielder’s latest post-goal posture?
