It was like he never left. Another IPL season and another year where David Warner ended up scoring more than 500 runs – the fifth time he has done so. The Australian opener was returning to the IPL after a hiatus of one year after having served his twelve-month ban for his involvement in the ball tampering saga. There was uncertainty over his form and fitness but Sunrisers Hyderabad kept their faith on him and Warner ended up paying it back and how.
Before leaving to join the Australian squad for the World Cup in England, Warner featured in 12 games this year in the IPL and ended up amassing a stunning 692 runs at an average of 69.20 along with 1 hundred and 8 fifties. He is the leading run-scorer of the season by some distance with the second one on the list being KL Rahul with 520 runs. For the third successive sea son now, Warner has scored over 600 runs in the Indian Premier League.
Warner’s consistency this season was incredible - he scored over 50 runs in 9 out of his 12 innings. And his strike-rate – 143.86 – was expectedly good.
