The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 starts from October 5 onward, and Afghanistan will be out to test themselves against the best teams in the world. It will be a fun ride to see where the Afghans belong on the big stage. Afghanistan failed to qualify for the Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours and will be wanting to bounce from that disappointment. The Afghans need to work on the batting, especially, and find players who can make a difference. Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead Afghanistan. They have some quality players in the mix. Spin will be a key aspect for Afghanistan as they would want to close down teams.
Afghanistan, who didn’t play a match post their Asia Cup exit, will feel gutted seeing their warm-up match versus South Africa get abandoned due to rain. Afghanistan face Sri Lanka next in another warm-up tie and will want to use that as preparation ahead of the World Cup. Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz remain the main threats for the Asian side in batting. With the ball, Rashid Khan is a trump card. The Afghans are playing their third successive ICC World Cup and will be taking plenty of experience out from the previous two editions.
