The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction concluded in Dubai on Tuesday. The mini-auction saw Australian duo Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins rule the roost, breaking the record for the most expensive deals in the competition's history. Daryl Mitchell was a solid purchase as well for a hefty sum. There were several steal buys in the form of Rachin Ravindra, Harry Brook, and Gerald Coetzee. Meanwhile, a few uncapped Indian players got some amazing deals as franchises broke the bank. Given the remaining purse and retained players, franchises knew what they had to address and several of them clocked the right buys in the auction at the Coca Cola arena in Dubai. Here we rate the teams as per who had the best IPL 2024 auction.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS GET A 9.5/10 RATING
IPL holders Chennai Super Kings had already retained a chunk of their core players, boasting of an already settled and well-covered squad. Notably, the MS Dhoni-led side had released the likes of Ben Stokes, Dwaine Pretorius, and Kyle Jamieson to name a few. The IPL 2024 auction saw them purchase Daryl Mitchell for a hefty sum of INR 14 crore. He looks an able replacement for Stokes. In Shardul Thakur (INR 8 crore), CSK got back a player from their set-up from the past. Mustafizur Rahman joined the team for INR 2 crore. With these two signings, CSK filled the void left by Pretorius and Sisanda Magala and brought more experience in bowling. Ravindra, who had a dream ICC World Cup campaign, adds an option upfront. Uncapped Sameer Rizvi was bought for INR 8.4 crore. He has the desired potential. It was a clean auction for CSK.
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD GET A 9/10 RATING
