The final of the inaugural World Test Championship will be played between India and New Zealand at the Rose Bowl in Southampton from June 18 to 22. The Kiwis put up some very good performances at home against West Indies and Pakistan, and became the first side to qualify after the proposed Australia South Africa Test series was postponed owing to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. India also qualified after hammering England 3-1 in the four-match Test series at home. In this feature, we take a look at India’s predicted XI for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand.
OPENERS: ROHIT SHARMA, SHUBMAN GILL
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill should be India’s first-choice openers for the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Rohit displayed excellent form in the Test series against England, hitting the series-changing hundred in Chennai. Gill struggled in the series but had excelled on debut in Australia. With question marks persisting over Mayank Agarwal’s form, Gill should retain his place.
