The year 2022 saw some amazing performances from players across the globe in all three formats of the game. England came up with some incredible performances in both Tests and limited-overs matches. They clinched the T20 World Cup 2022 in stunning fashion. Australia were amazing in the Tests under new skipper Pat Cummins. Sri Lanka struggled for consistency but came from nowhere to lift the Asia Cup. India and South Africa had poor years as a team but came up with some impressive individual performances. As a recap of 2022, we pick the Top 10 players of the year.
1. BEN STOKES: Under Ben Stokes, England revived their Test fortunes. After drubbing New Zealand and India at home, they created history in Pakistan, becoming the first team to whitewash the hosts in their own den in Tests. Stokes and Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' theory divided opinion, but the results so far are there for everyone to see. As a player, Stokes contributed at key moments, none more significant than in the T20 World Cup final, when he guided a tricky chase against Pakistan.
2. SURYAKUMAR YADAV: SKY is yet to make his Test debut. His ODI numbers are also average at best. But he has been so sensational in the T20 format, Suryakumar Yadav cannot be left out of the list. The right-handed batter, known for his 360-degree hitting, clubbed 1164 runs in 31 T20I matches at an average of 46.56 and a sensational strike rate of 187.43. He slammed two hundreds, one in England and one in New Zealand. The ball literally flew off his bat in 2022.
