 A Different View Of Paradise

Phuket as a holiday destination is not new to many. The mountainous island in the heart of Andaman Sea has some of Thailand’s most popular beaches. Armed with a stellar reputation for natural beauty, colourful nightlife, rich historic culture and fabulous food, this island needs no introduction.

While the usual tourism magnets of food and beach culture have always been the cornerstone of visitor attractions, once a year, Bang Tao beach – home to Asia’s largest resort complexes, draws a different crowd to its shores when it plays host to one of the island’s most popular marathon races.

The Laguna Phuket Marathon, held this year from 9th to 10th June, is the brainchild of Go Adventure Asia who has organised this AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) certified race for 13 years now including 2018. After the record-breaking participation rate from last year, this year saw a new record with a total of 9000 runners from over 50 countries running in the Full, Half marathon and 10.5km distance races.
