Allen's gone, successor on hold

The bells tolled one day before the new year and they tolled for Bruce Allen.

Allen's gone, successor on hold

The team president was fired after 10 years and 100 losses. It was twice the time and cost that fans thought would be needed for his ouster.

“As this season concludes,” read a statement by owner Dan Snyder, “Bruce Allen has been relieved of his duties as president of the Washington Redskins and is no longer with the organization. Like our passionate fan base, I recognize we have not lived up to the high standards set by great Redskins teams, coaches and players who have come before us. As we reevaluate our team leadership, culture and process for winning football games, I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead to renew our singular focus and purpose of bringing championship football back to Washington D.C.”

And so ends the Burgundy Revolution’s biggest demand to return. Snyder floated a trial balloon over Allen staying just for stadium business and the public shot that out of the sky like a drone hovering over a marijuana field. Next thing we knew, Allen was riding in coach on his way home after the Cowboys game in Dallas.
