Marin Shuttles Back ‘Home'

THREE-TIME WORLD Champion Carolina Marin has a new “home” in India. The Spanish ace will play for the Pune 7 Aces franchise in the fourth season of Premier Badminton League (PBL), after a successful two-year stint with Hyderabad Hunters.

The World No.4 was snapped up by the franchise as an Icon player for 80 lakh at the players auction, held in New Delhi. (PBL Season IV will kick off in Mumbai from December 22 and will stretch till January 13.) Olympic champion Marin was one of the most sought-after players in the auction after playing a major role in Hyderabad Hunters’ title triumph last year. Four teams bid for her services in the Icon player category, with Pune eventually coming up trumps. The 25-year-old expressed her excitement to be a part of the new franchise and lead a young team.
