Scotland Shattered By Controversial Exit
WEST INDIES booked a place in next year’s World Cup in England but Scotland were left to deal with their shattered dreams in the rain of Harare.
Kyle Coetzer’s side were chasing 199 for victory which would have earned them a top two place in the Super Six table in the World Cup Qualifier tournament and an automatic spot in next summer’s event.
West Indies were facing a similar scenario in what was, in effect, a winner-takes-all match.
Safyaan Sharif and Brad Wheal had unsettled the West Indies batsmen, taking three wickets apiece.
While opener Evin Lewis (66) had top-scored in the Windies innings after Chris Gayle fell first ball to Sharif, Scotland’s chase got off to an even less promising start with Matthew Cross and Coetzer (4) falling early (2).
