TIM Bresnan’s final-over six sealed victory for Perth Scorchers over Adelaide Strikers and, with it, top spot in the Big Bash.

Despite the Scorchers waving goodbye to the WACA, it wasn’t time for emotional farewells. Indeed, Bresnan starred with bat and ball. His 2-34, combined with Jhye Richardson and Matthew Kelly’s hauls of two apiece, restricted the Strikers to 137-6 despite Jake Weatherald’s 56.

Though Perth Scorchers, who will now be looking to make it back-to-back Big Bash titles, struggled. Only Cameron Bancroft and Adam Voges made double figures, though Bresnan struck a maximum in the final over of the chase to seal the win that secures top spot.

Scorchers captain Voges said: “It was really nice to know we’d earned a home semi-final a couple of days ago. It’s a historic night and it’s really nice to be able to send the fans and the WACA ground off with a win and welcome over at the new stadium.
