James Vince is being considered for an emergency World Cup opening role by England this summer following fears over the fitness and availability of Jason Roy and Alex Hales.
Roy suffered a back spasm batting for Surrey against Essex in the One-Day Cup at The Oval on Tuesday and was ruled out of his county’s match against Middlesex yesterday.
But even though he joins a three-day training camp in Cardiff starting today with the rest of England’s 17-man squad for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, concerns remain over a back issue that could flare up at any time.
