With the County Championship as strong as I can remember it and the new T20 competition just around the corner, it’s so refreshing to see so many young players with positivity, looking to make their mark on the season.
Division One, in particular, is so tight to call. Essex showed last year by winning the title in their first season that the gap between top and bottom is not very big and that will give confidence to the likes of Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire who have just come up.
Since their tremendous success last season, however, Essex have lost coach Chris Silverwood and with Alastair Cook likely to be featuring more for England in a big summer of Test cricket, I think it will be a fantastic achievement to claim back-to-back successes.
