Beating Steelers surprised even Rivera

Trust me, Washington Football coach Ron Rivera was as surprised as anybody over his team rallying from a 14-0 deficit to beat the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers. After all, when Rivera spoke earlier in the season about the so-called winnable part of the schedule, that did not include the Steelers.

That stretch ended with their second game against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, Washington’s most impressive win of the season, a 41-16 beatdown. It was Washington’s most impressive, at least, until its stunning upset over Pittsburgh.

According to Fox Sports analyst Daryl “Moose” Johnston, Rivera told announcers he was disappointed with his team’s 3-3 record over that portion of games the coach declared winnable.

(By the way, former Dallas Cowboy Moose Johnston loves him some Washington Football. He’s been doing many of the games and has clearly become a Rivera fan).

If disappointed over an inability to gain ground in the so-called winnable part of the scheduled, Rivera’s expectations could not have been very high facing the Steelers, even though you won’t get the coach to admit so.
