All About the iPhone Xs
The iPhone Xs is the spiritual successor to last year’s iPhone X and as such, has a lot to live up to. The casing is made from a surgical grade stainless steel and comes in three different colours: gold, silver and space grey. If you’re worried about dropping your iPhone in a puddle, you’ve nothing to fear. The new model can be submerged in up to two metres of water for up to 30 minutes with no ill effect.
The iPhone Xs has a Super Retina Display, which measures 5.8 inches from corner to corner. It’s an OLED screen, with a resolution of 2436 x 1125; that’s 2.7 million pixels. Side by side with the last generation’s plus-sized phone, the iPhone 8 Plus, the new iPhone Xs has a clearly larger display despite being a smaller phone. That’s the advantage of an edge-to-edge screen. Nothing is wasted on the bezel.
The new iPhones also have better sound. Matching great speakers with capable software, the sound spectrum is greatly improved from the previous generation. This is especially welcome when playing games and watching music videos. You can enjoy them without wearing earbuds (don’t try this on public transport).
The phone is powered by a new processor, the A12 Bionic chip. It’s the industry’s first seven nanometer chip, which, in plain English, means it’s very thin. It’s packed with 6.9 billion transistors and has a four-core graphics processor and a six-core CPU.
