DEVICE FOR MASSES Realme 8 5G

Realme has been trying to position at least one phone in every possible segment in the market in both 5G and 4G bands, so that people would find every possible combination of features within their line-up. We are not sure how effective this strategy is, since we feel that this also adds to the confusion. The Realme 8 5G is the 5G variant of the Realme 8 series, which also includes a 4G variant.

The Realme 8 5G encapsulates the same design philosophy as its numerous siblings, rendering a mild gradient of light when the phone is moved to a slightly different angle. The device is available in what Realme has officially christened as Supersonic Blue and Supersonic Black colours. The quad-camera module is laid out in a neat rectangular bump at the corner. The device uses a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the recessed power button. Face unlock is available and both these were quick to unlock the phone, unlike even some high-end devices that take a few seconds to recognise a fingerprint. The phone is thin and light with dimensions of 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.5mm and weighing 185g.

The device is available in three configurations: with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory, 4GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB. We received the 8GB/128GB variant in Supersonic Blue, and the review is based on this configuration. The device features Dynamic Ram Expansion technology, which uses the internal storage (ROM) as a virtual RAM, providing a temporary boost to performance when the device demands. According to Realme, DRE can boost 4GB RAM to 5GB and 8GB to 11GB.
