Portugal's southernmost region has a lot going for it - from award-winning Blue Flag beaches along its 200km coastline to scenic natural parks, world-class golf and Michelin-starred cuisine. Importantly the region boasts 300 days of sunshine per year and is easy to access, with Faro airport in the region's namesake capital connected to 26 airports in the UK and served by airlines including British Airways, Easyjet, Jet 2, Ryanair and Wizzair. GOLF

Amandoeira Golf Resort

This 270-hectare resort in Alcantarilha offers three golf courses for a variety of levels. The more experienced players can opt for either of the 18-hole courses designed by world-renowned players Sir Nick Faldo and Christy O'Connor Jnr, while night owls and beginners are better suited to the floodlit 9-hole course - the only illuminated course in Portugal.
