Drie Berge Caravan Park recently launched their very own club called the Drie Berge Dagbesoekersklub, which gives access to the resort on certain days of the week. Potential day visitors, who are not members, are not allowed into the resort – a move seen to guard genuine campers against petty pilfering and making sure that facilities are not overrun by picnickers.
This resort is only open on weekends and holidays, although they do allow bookings from Thursday to Sunday nights for those campers lucky enough to make it a four-day weekend.
Drie Berge Caravan Park is situated on a farm of approximately 100 hectares, 7km north of Brits in the North West Province. It is some 90km from Johannesburg and 60km from Pretoria, a short skip and a hop by Gauteng distance standards, and just enough to get you away from suburbia and out into the tranquillity of the country.
ACCESS CODE
Before leaving home, you will have to make contact via cell (083 608 3409) to get an access code for the farm gate, otherwise, you won’t be able to enter and will have a whole lot of disappointed faces in your car. While travelling the route from Brits to Dikhololo, encourage everyone in your car to keep an eye out for the signpost on your left announcing Drie Berge Karavaanpark. The last person to see the sign has to wind down the caravan’s corner steadies!
This resort is not visible from the tar road, as you still have to drive along a meandering gravel road for another 1.5km into the mountains until you come across the farm access gate. To enter, you will need your special access code, so make sure you have written it down somewhere. Proceed along the gravel road until you reach the reception area.
