[ Resort Review ] Kamp Oase, Luke Umuzi, Mpumalanga.
In the heart of Secunda, just an hour and a half’s drive from Johannesburg, you will find one of the most hip and happening new caravan resorts in South Africa.
Lake Umuzi Kamp Oase in Mpumalanga only opened their gates in October 2017, but thanks to their neat camping sites, modern amenities, loads of activities, and surrounding entertainment, it’s already become one of the most popular destinations in the area for young and old.
Situated in the waterfront between two dams in the Trichardtspruit, this resort is a true oases for those who are thirsty for a lively, social camping experience.
If you are looking for a quiet bushveld breakaway, this is not where you’ll find it. From massive jungle gyms, a waterpark, five restaurants, music festivals and jolly events, Lake Umuzi Kamp Oase is buzzing with activity!
It’s a paradise for children, with facilities and activities such as Carnival Square where you’ll find the biggest jungle gym in Africa (with a train running around the outside), the Aquazone Waterpark which offers five water slides and an in-house swimming pool, and Rocky Waters with 18 hole miniature golf course and a tenpin bowling area. An entrance fee has to be paid to use these facilities.
There are secure walking and bicycle trails round the dam. The dam offers opportunity for species fishing including carp and swart Baar (strictly catch and release).
THE CAMPSITE
Bookings for Kamp Oase are handled by the Merchant Hotel at the Luke Umuzi Waterfront, and it is here that you will have to sign in and get your entry permit for campsite.
To get to the campsite, you drive from the hotel around the Lake Umuzi development to the resort reception building and gate.
