A Home For Henna

While relaxing on my patio in March 2015, I went from being a city girl to a “farmer” in the blink of an eye when I spied a chicken walking along our back fence. We were used to seeing stray dogs and cats around our neighborhood, but never a chicken!

Having no experience with chickens didn’t prevent me from putting out some water and kale while wondering where she might have come from. She didn’t seem to be the fat-and-friendly type of chicken I’d seen on television but rather a lean, long-legged bird that did not warm up to me. She flew onto the roof and avoided all efforts to lure her—even with treats.
