Dubai offers endless attractions for the active traveller.
Whether you’re an audacious adrenaline junkie, an adventure seeker or simply looking to enjoy the great outdoors, Dubai’s surroundings make for an exciting playground.
Cycling holidays
Dubai’s cycling scene continues to gain momentum in tandem with the city’s improving cycling infrastructure, making it ideal for those simply after a leisurely ride as well as more serious cyclists. With purpose-built cycling tracks traversing the city, abundant sports stores and plenty of bicycle hire options available, Dubai amply caters to holidays on two wheels.
Nad Al Sheba Cycle Park offers serious riders the choice of an 8km, 6km or 4km loop, with the whole course lit at night, offering brilliant views of Downtown Dubai and the Burj Khalifa.
Al Qudra Cycle Track is perfect for middle- to long-distance riders, with paths ranging from 18km to 50km, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding sand dunes.
Dubai Autodrome offers a closed 2.5km circuit perfect for beginners or those getting back after a break from cycling.
For those interested in a leisurely pedal, there are rent-a-bike stations in Downtown, Dubai Marina and Jumeirah.
Both Al Barsha Park and Mushrif Park have excellent dedicated cycleways during opening hours.
The bike path along the Jumeirah Corniche beachfront boasts spectacular views of the Burj Al Arab.
The newly completed Dubai Water Canal has a 12km cycling track also worth checking out.
Running tracks
Seaside jogging tracks, atmospheric desert running roads and running clubs aplenty – Dubai loves a good run. There are plenty of locations to choose from as well: from the futuristic cityscape of Dubai Marina, to the leafy green of Safa Park, to the seaside track running parallel to Jumeirah Beach Road.
